Rain, rain, rain!

Seems to do nothing but rain! I've treated the lottie to a rain guage, and its really been Christened!
I decided to clear a patch next to the rhubarb for strawberries and make some cages out of pallets. Just managed to get one frame together between showers. Hopefully a better day tomorrow!

Half a day weeding!

Lots and lots of these little chaps this morning. I was on my hands and knees weeding and realised they were everywhere! Better late than never! My globe artichoke, or cardoons perhaps, have produced the first bloom. Well over six feet high!

Fresh this morning, a Marmite granary loaf. The crust was eaten hot!

A foray into Lincoln!

Usually have a cone of chips from an excellent chippy in Lincoln, 'The Sign of the Fish'

Bought a couple of bunnies for the pot, or more precisely for the chilli and chocolate!

Monday 20 July 2009

Steps down to the Witham provided by the local council for our convenience.
Its a pretty spot! The apache chilli is now in flower. An accompaniment for rabbit and chocolate!

I'd like a greyhound but it's not to be!

George's spuds!

George throws his potato peeling from home on his allotment compost heaps (he has several) and gets a nice crop of potatoes from them!

First flower!

My very first courgette flower, planted a bit late, but plenty of time!
Spinach, Chinese cabbage, pak choi and lambs lettuce seeds have all germinated!

Saturday 4 July 2009

Dakota over the plot!

Waddington air show today, the Red Arrows and this Dakota flew over the allotments.

Friday 3 July 2009

Spinach today!

My perpetual spinach has poked its head above the soil just in time for a good downpour!

The pic is gooseberry vodka in the making. I've added more vodka since the pic was taken!

Wednesday 1 July 2009

Drew (pictured) and myself sampling the first bottle of turbo cider. The concensus of opinion is damned strong!

Planted just nine days ago, the very first of my seeds to germinate; pak choi¬
