Too much chat!
Seem to have spent most of the day on the plot chatting! My neighbour has almost become the tenant of the quarter plot adjacent to mine; he and his wife and sister came to view the iy today!
I put together a prototype adjustable bird net frame. Found my onion sets had been pulled from the ground by birds, so I had to reset them, and dug over a patch in readiness for cabbage and cauliflower.

Onion sets arrive!
Began to think they'd forgotten me, but they arrived in this morning's post!
So three rows of onions duly planted. The CDs are to deter blackbirds throwing out the onions in their search for food!
Asked my neighbour, Fred the train, if I might bring his section of path up to the regulation three feet and level it a bit so I can get my trolley in without trampling his veg!

The Face at the Window!
Didn't get a lot done before it started to rain, but I found a new position for Julien's spare head!

First day of spring, glorious sushine!
Threw away all the cheap, useless compost and sowed fresh tomato, basil, French marigold and celariac seeds in trays in the poly tunnel.
Removed a lot of chickweed and dandelions and tidied up generally.
Also planted two rows of Ulster Prince potatoes, but lots of my seed potatoes have rotted, probably down to frost or more likely a dodgy source! So tomorrow I shall be looking for more first earlies.
The lady in the next plot gave me a gooseberry bush and a rhubarb crown, duly planted!
And I spread a few flower seeds around my bumble bee area! Also some Lavender Vera to combat the smell of horse manure!
Areas earmarked for cabbage, cauli and celariac.
Could just do with a nice day tomorrow now!

Failiure day!
My spinning CD bird scarer is not a great success, bad aerodynamics!
It moves, and would probably disturb the birds, but I think it's back to the drawing board!
Also none of my seeds have germinated in the polytunnel; that'll teach me not to buy 49p a bag compost! The good stuff is now purchased and ready for a nice day; tomorrow?
