Had a look in Grantham museum today, quite impressed! I was asked to post some pictures of the 'Maggie' display. See: http://overthegate.myfreeforum.org/about14500.html
Beautiful day here, not much work being done on the allotments, mostly sunbathing!

Trip to Lincoln today. I wanted a filleting knife, but the one I really wanted was £53! So I had to compromise. This one was £15, it's non stainless steel so I'll probably manage to keep an edge on it! I prepared a rainbow trout for dinner with it!
I want it to remove the meat from rabbit, but bunnies seem in short supply at the moment!
Hopefully some Welsh friends from an online forum will visit sometime this summer, I've promised them Mayan rabbit with Morrocan semolina bread! Today I purchased a red dragon aromatherapy oil burner; so what's a good Welsh essential oil? Oil of leek? No, 'p'raps not!

Grey Water!

Don't use grey water on tomatoes! Killed off the marigold seedlings in the growbag, but the tomato plants may survive, just one I may have to talk to!
Took twelve cuttings off my lavender plant. I'd like a small rosemary and lavender hedge around my herb patch, when I get my allotment!

Tomorrow its the Museum of Lincolnshire Life for a forum meet.

How soon?

I was told today there are ten people on the waiting list and I'm not number ten!

Bad back!

Lots of bubbles going through the air lock on the turbo cider!

Doctor says a bit of my back is inflamed, flamin thing!
I'm going to use a little aromatherapy on it. Rosemary, marjoram and lavender in sweet almond oil. If it does no good at least it'll smell nice!
Note to self: get a fresh pineapple tomorrow, it has a natural anti-inflamatory.

Rosemary!

I've taken twelve cuttings from my patio rosemary plant as per the excellent book pictured, which I found in a local charity shop!
When I get my plot I want to start a herb patch with a rosemary hedge.

Just collected several cartons of apple juice from Lidl, along with a bag of sugar, the intent is a gallon of scrumpy!

Sunday 10 May 2009

Purchased a comfrey plant from Candlesby Herbs at our local farmers market yesterday. A useful plant both on and off the allotment. Had another attempt at taking cuttings from my rosemary, third time lucky!

Wow, goosegogs!

My gooseberry bush has fruit on it!
Twas only a twig last November!

This is the riverside approach to the allotments I really want to be on!

Tuesday 5 May 2009

Emergency?

Discovered today that discharging a weapon in an urban court mainly occupied by elderly people is not a 999 offence!
So you're put in a police station telephone queue for a quarter hour!
Almost an hour after the event a constable arrived. The lady whose windows were fired at is an infirm seventy-three year old!

The outcome may be interesting!

Bank Holiday Monday

Still wanting an allotment!

Raining on and off all day! Managed to tidy patio garden, and dug out a few dandelions.
My small potted rosemary appears to have died, found a spot for it next to the hedge, so it can take its chances.

Patio Toms!

The patio tomatoes went out today. They were grown from last years seeds, these were from the very first tomato I have grown and eaten!
The variety is Shirley. Seedling French marigolds can also just visible at the front of the bag; hopefully they'll help to keep the pests away.
May need a guard dog for some pests!

A cuppa!

Got invited behind the security fence and had a cuppa with the guys at the riverside allotments today!
Altogether a good Beltane!
