Sunday 28 February 2010

Got a belated £10 crimble present yesterday, so something to fight the blackfly was in order!

Kiwi fruit!

The two Kiwi fruit trees I ordered arrived today! The instructions said plant as soon as possible, so it was off to the plot in the rain. Job done!

Thursday 25 February 2010

It's arrived!

The new poly tunnel, just in time for my birthday! All I need Now is a couple of dry days!

Wednesday 24 February 2010

A quick check!

Just a quick walk today, just to see if all is well, because I' supposed to be waiting in for my polytunnel arriving any day now!
The Environment Agency are busy with the river bank, making for a very muddy path!
Oddly, the guy with the shopping bags turned out to be the last tennant of my new bit of plot.
Looking fairly tidy now, just waiting for spring!

Two hours of cold sunshine!

Done a few odd jobs whilst the sun was shining. The picture is a climbing frame for cherry tomatoes, if I can find the right variety for the job!

Cooking for the freezer!

Miserable wet day after yesterday's sunshine. So I purcahased some of Bassingthorpe Beef''s aberdeen angus mince and set about a few pasta dishes for the freezer. The one in the dish should do me for a couple of days! Something to wear on cold days on the lotty, a shemagh! I had to google up the correct way to tie it! It's a scarf, muffler and hoodie in one; £6 well spent!

Tuesday 16 February 2010

Glorious sunshine!

Wonderful sunny day, I even caught a little sun! Spent five hours on the plot doing various odd jobs.
Wood preserver on the pallet seat, chickweed and dandelions removed, and the area in the picture cleared and a border put around.
I don't know what to plant in it as its in partial shade and my bumblebee nest box is on the right.

Working in the rain again!

Managed to finish a bit of staging ready for the new polytunnel. Had another break in on the plots; the cost of the damage is likely to be more than the few tools taken!

Saturday 13 February 2010

Soggy Saturday!

The polythene cover is now on the stevia bed; just remains to be seen what gets it first, a gale or the local vandals! A bit of pallet work again, this time its staging for the new polytunnel when it arrives!
Loads of room to grow plenty of basil!

Friday 12 February 2010

Funny old Friday!

Rain, hail, snow and sunshine; but I managed to finish digging trenches for spuds!

Still working for the plot at 8:30pm! Joining polythene for a small tunnel.
I had to search the net, then take a bus pass ride into Lincoln to collect the special tape!

Wednesday 10 February 2010

Having to wait!

About sixteen days to delivery!
I just want to get my tomatoes in there.
At least I can get on and make some staging.

Wednesday 3 February 2010

Very rustic summer seat!

All done with recycled wood and a few cheap metal bits!
My summer seat; its actually quite comfortable. Needs some sandpaper and wood preserver
round it yet, but that needs drier weather!
