Space for a shed!

Three quarters of the plot is now planted!
Experimenting with Spanish garlic cloves tonight, couldn't get any seeds!
The ground is very dry, watered twice today, but it quickly soaks it up!

Friday 26 June 2009

A few additions to the herb patch, took my comfrey plant to the allotment and some flat leafed parsley (son of morris culinary variety!)
My little red rose bush is still thriving!
Hilled my potatoes today, after only a week in the ground, and planted some bell peppers.

Tonight's view.

Finished watering at 7pm. Still an on-going battle with thistles and dandelions, but it's heading towards 'Cookit'!

Tuesday 23 June 2009

Beaten it!

It's taken just over a week to remove all the jungle off the plot, and I'm pleased to say it all fitted in the composter. About a third is already planted and some more will go in this week.

Side Tracked!

Done a bit of work on the plot, but got sidtracked by a classic car and bike show!

Saturday 20 June 2009

Almost clear!

The composter with the heap of weeds drying.

Lots of plants in.

Tuesday 16 June 2009

Lots of planting today, purple sprouting broccoli, red onion, courgettesk, spuds and some herbs!

Still lots to do!

Got very sunburnt!

Friday 12 June 2009

Mine on Monday morning!

The plot becomes offically mine at 9am Monday!

Lots of things already growing hidden in the weeds, including ready to eat strawberries!

Saw this beauty on the way:

My new plot!

I've had a look at my plot, not officionally mine yet, so I have to be patient!
It's well overgrown so I'm going to be busy. The guys there are falling over themselves to help!
Great bunch of chaps!
Came across a good herbal site yesterday www.herbexpert.co.uk

Monday 8 June 2009

I've got a plot!

At eight fifteen this morning I had a phone call to tell me my wait for an alottment was over!
I have to wait for the previous tennant to hand in his keys before I get to know what state it's in, or if it has a shed.
With luck I may get some prodution this year!

Tuesday 2 June 2009

A bit hot!

Very hot day today, not a lot done!

Except for a coat of paint my ladybird/lacewing box is complete.

Just need an allotment shed to fasten it to; and an allotment of course!

Monday 1 June 2009

Almost took my voice!

I shall need a large dish to prepare chocolate chilli rabbit soon for five people, if all goes to plan.
So I trawled the charity shops and found this gem. Five litre capacity Aluguss Brater crackle black cast aluminium with Pyrex lid! Didn't look as if it had ever been used; £3.75!
Googled up the name and found one for €30 on e-bay!
Racked my turbo cider into a clean demi-john, and couldn't resist a taste! My voice went a little hoarse, still fermenting (3 weeks now) methinks it may have to sit a long while to mellow!
